Hidden at the eastern summit of Pomagagnon - a fascinating mountain - Forcella Zumeles and its beautiful natural terrace above the Dolomites are one of the most spectacular view points in Cortina. In order to get there, you have to take the lift from Rio Gere until Son Forca, at the foot of the cliff that comes from Mount Cristallo’s Cima di Mezzo. You’ll then have to follow the path n° 205 which will take you to Forcella Zumeles in half an hour. Here you can enjoy one of the best panoramas in Cortina, with an incredible view over the Sorapis Mount, Croda da Lago, Tofane, Cristallino, and one of the greatest larch woods in the Dolomites and in Europe.

Alpe di SiusiThe Witches’ Benches

5

The resting place of the Schlern witches on Puflatsch is literally a legendary place in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. It is two huge porphyry blocks located on the west side of Puflatsch. Their position suggests that it was a place of worship dedicated to the sun god who illuminated the Alps at sunset. Take the Seiser Alm cable car up to the mountain station in Compatsch. To your left, a wide path leads steeply uphill towards the Puflatsch If you prefer, you can save yourself this affort and take the Telemix Puflatsch. From here, walk on to the Engelsrast (“Angels’ Rest”) viewing platform. The loop route leads on to the Filln Cross and the Witches’ Benches. The path now leads down to the Goller Cross and, with Schlern mountain in sight, back to Compatsch, the starting point of the tour.

CarezzaKaiserstein

6
In August 1897, Kaiserin Elisabeth stayed at the Grand Hotel Karersee on the advice of her personal doctor. The Empress of Austria-Hungary loved extensive walks through the woods as well as the natural spectacle of the Rosengarten, Latemar & Lake Carezza. One of her favourite places was a huge boulder below the Rosengarten, which is still called "Kaiserstein" today.

Valcigolera, lying at the foot of the Lagorai mountain range, is a little corner of paradise for hikers who want to enjoy a relaxing day, breathing in the fresh mountain air, while admiring the spectacle of the Pale di San Martino towering unchanged right in front of them.

The hidden place can be reached: starting directly from the village of San Martino di Castrozza along a forest road (approx. 1.5h walk); alternatively, using the 'Colbricon Express' and then taking the Dahu trail (only open on Saturdays and Sundays due to ongoing work).
